Most tools wait for your question. Daized reads the file first.
Chat-based tools moved the blank canvas into a text box and called it progress. You still have to know your file has a margin worth checking, that returns are the reason it moved, and roughly what to type to find out. That works when a data team owns the question and the model is a faster way to reach it; it fails the person holding a file, a deadline, and no idea whether the interesting thing inside is a trend, a segment, or a data-entry error in row 4,000.
BI tools went the other way. They will draw anything, once someone has connected the data, modelled it and built the page chart by chart. The question still comes first; it is simply asked in a report editor instead of a text box, by whoever knows the tool. Either way, you bring the question. Daized brings it to you.
The file arrives before the infrastructure does
A quarterly export lands in your inbox on a Tuesday and someone needs the answer by Thursday. There is no warehouse, no semantic layer, and no analyst with a free afternoon. And every tool on the market assumes at least one of those already exists.
Charting was never the hard part
Drawing a bar chart takes thirty seconds. Knowing that average order value is the number to watch, and that it falling while revenue rises means growth is coming from volume, is the part that takes ten years to learn. That judgement is what tools leave to you.
So Daized makes that judgement, and shows its working
It identifies the kind of business the data describes, computes the metrics that kind of business is measured by, draws the chart the column shape calls for, and writes the sentence a good analyst would write. Then it shows you every assumption so you can overrule any of it.
Seven places the difference shows.
Different readers
Chat AI tools
One answer for whoever asked. A manager and a director get the same reply to the same prompt, and each has to know how to ask for their own.
BI tools
Roles decide who may see a report, not what the report says. A separate view for leadership is a separate dashboard someone has to build.
DAIZED
Three views of one file: Exploratory Analytics for the analyst, Performance Monitor for the manager, Leadership Overview for leadership. Different metrics, ranking and findings, from the same numbers.
Knowing what to ask
Chat AI tools
A prompt box assumes you already know the question. "Show me revenue by region" only occurs to someone who knows the file has a region column and that revenue is the interesting part.
BI tools
A BI tool assumes you know the answer's shape: someone models the data, chooses each chart and arranges the page before anyone reads it. That is days of a specialist's time per dashboard.
DAIZED
Nothing to ask. The dashboard exists before you have formed a question, so the first thing you see is what the data is about rather than an empty text field.
Getting the same answer twice
Chat AI tools
Ask the same question on Monday and Thursday and the wording, the chart and sometimes the number change. Nothing is reproducible, so nothing is quotable in a meeting.
BI tools
Consistent once built, because a person fixed every definition by hand. Until then there is nothing to read, and each new file starts that work again.
DAIZED
The metrics come from a dictionary and the charts from the column shapes. The same file gives the same dashboard every time, and a model is never on the path that produces a number.
Trusting the number
Chat AI tools
The model will answer confidently whether or not the column means what it assumed. A wrong join or a text column full of numbers produces a fluent, wrong sentence.
BI tools
Numbers are as good as the model behind them, and checking the data is a separate job, usually done before the tool ever sees it.
DAIZED
Nulls, duplicates, mixed types and outliers are checked on every upload and shown before the figures. Where a metric has a caveat, the caveat is attached to it.
Wanting more than it gave you
Chat AI tools
The answer is a dead end. Seeing the same number by month, or as a share rather than a total, means writing the question again and hoping the second answer agrees with the first, which it often does not.
BI tools
Anything is possible, by editing the report: drag a field, pick a visual, set its options. Powerful in the hands of the person who built it, closed to everyone else.
DAIZED
The dashboard is a starting point. Add a metric from any column in your file, choose how it should be computed and how it should be drawn, and it joins the ones Daized picked: same definitions, same data, nothing rephrased.
Speed
Chat AI tools
Every question is a round trip to a model: seconds each, and a rate limit or an outage between you and your own data.
BI tools
Fast to read once it exists. Getting there means a connector, a data model and per-user licences, and AI features often sit on a higher, separately priced tier.
DAIZED
The whole dashboard is computed locally. A model is optional and never on the critical path; with no key configured, everything still works.
Your data
Chat AI tools
The rows are usually sent to the model. For most companies that is the reason the tool never gets past review.
BI tools
Stays inside the platform, which is the strength of BI tools. The cost is the setup and the seat licences that come with it.
DAIZED
Only column names, types and a few truncated sample values ever leave the process. They are capped, and the rows themselves never do.
When to use something else. If you have a modelled warehouse, a metrics layer and an analyst who already knows the question, you want a canvas, and you should use one. Daized is for the file that arrives before any of that exists.
